Frequently Asked Questions

Q
What is the difference between Standby Power and Prime Power in these generator sets?
A
Standby Power (ESP) refers to the maximum power available for use in the event of a utility outage, typically for limited hours per year with no overload capability. Prime Power (PRP) is the power available for continuous operation with variable load, suitable for unlimited hours per year. For most industrial and commercial applications requiring continuous power, Prime Power ratings should be used for sizing.
Q
What does the asterisk (*) or triangle (△) symbol before an engine model name indicate?
A
These symbols correspond to specific alternator configurations. For example, *4BTA3.9-G2 uses a QC 50/60E alternator, △4BTA3.9-G2 uses a QC 58/67E alternator, *6BT5.9-G2 uses a QC 86/100E alternator, and △6BT5.9-G2 uses a QC 96/115E alternator. Please refer to the note at the bottom of the specification table for the complete mapping.
Q
Are both Open Type and Canopy Type configurations available for all models?
A
Most models in the TC series are available in both Open Type and Canopy (soundproof enclosure) configurations. The Open Type is suitable for installation in an engine room or protected environment, while the Canopy Type provides weather protection and noise reduction for outdoor or semi-outdoor use. The TC2000 model currently lists only Open Type dimensions; please contact us for Canopy Type availability.
Q
How do I select the right generator model based on my power requirements?
A
First, calculate your total connected load in KW or KVA, then add a safety margin of 20–25%. If the generator will run continuously, use the Prime Power (KW) column for selection. If it will only be used as an emergency backup, the Standby Power (KW) column is the reference. Also consider fuel consumption (L/h) for operational cost planning, and check the physical dimensions (L×W×H) to ensure the unit fits your installation space.
Q
What engine brands are used in the TC series generator sets?
A
All TC series generator sets are powered by Cummins engines, ranging from the compact 3.9L displacement (4B/4BT/4BTA series) for smaller models, through the 5.9L (6BT/6BTA/6BTAA series), 8.3L and 8.9L (6CTA/6CTAA/6LTAA series), 14L (NTA855/NTAA855 series), 19L (KTA19/KTAA19 series), 38L (KT38/KTA38 series), up to the 50L (KTA50 series) for the largest models up to 2000 KVA. Cummins engines are renowned for their reliability, fuel efficiency, and global service network.
Q
Can the generator set dimensions be customized, and what installation clearances are required?
A
The dimensions listed in the table are standard configurations. Custom skid arrangements or modified canopy sizes may be available upon request for specific project requirements. For installation, it is generally recommended to maintain a minimum clearance of 1 meter on all serviceable sides and at least 1.5 meters at the exhaust end. Adequate ventilation, vibration isolation, and exhaust routing must also be planned according to the engine manufacturer's guidelines.
