ESP (Emergency Standby Power) is the maximum power available for use in the event of a utility failure, typically for up to 200 hours per year with varying load. PRP (Prime Rated Power) is the maximum power available continuously while supplying a variable electrical load with no restriction on annual operating hours. For most applications requiring continuous operation, PRP is the applicable rating to use for sizing.

What is the difference between the New Domestic engine model and the Imported MTU model in the 4000 Series?
The New Domestic model uses locally produced MTU-licensed engines that meet the same core performance standards, while the Imported MTU model features engines manufactured directly by MTU in Germany. Both variants share identical power ratings and dimensions. The imported MTU model may offer advantages in certain certification requirements or project specifications. First, determine whether your application requires Emergency Standby Power (ESP) or Prime Rated Power (PRP). Calculate your total connected load in KW or KVA, then apply a safety margin of 20–25% to allow for load fluctuations and future expansion. Select the genset model whose PRP or ESP rating meets or exceeds your calculated requirement. For example, if your load is 900 KW at prime rating, the TX1000 (PRP 728 KW) would be undersized, while the TX1100 (PRP 800 KW) or TX1250 (PRP 908 KW) would be appropriate choices.

For example, the TX710 consumes 156 L/h at full ESP load (572 KW), while at 75% load this would be approximately 110–120 L/h. Always consult the detailed datasheet for fuel consumption curves at various load percentages for accurate operational cost planning.
