ESP (Emergency Standby Power) is the maximum power available for use in the event of a utility failure. It is intended for variable load applications with no overload capability. PRP (Prime Rated Power) is the power available for unlimited hours of operation at variable load, with a typical average load factor of 70% of PRP over each 24-hour period. PRP ratings are generally lower than ESP ratings for the same engine model.

The TY Series generator sets use Yuchai (YC) engines across the full power range. Smaller models (TY23–TY41) are fitted with 4D24 series engines, mid-range models use YC4D, YC4A, YC6A, YC6MK, and YC6K series engines, while high-power models (TY825–TY2750) are equipped with YC6C, YC12VTD, YC12VC, and YC16VC series engines with displacements up to 105.56 L.

Open Type generator sets have no enclosure around the engine and alternator, making them suitable for indoor installation or where noise is less of a concern. Canopy Type (also called Silent Type) generator sets are enclosed in a sound-attenuating steel canopy, significantly reducing noise levels and providing weather protection, making them ideal for outdoor use or noise-sensitive environments.

First, calculate the total connected load (in KW or KVA) of all equipment you need to power, including startup surge loads for motors and compressors. For standby applications, select a model whose ESP KW rating exceeds your total load. For continuous or prime power use, select based on PRP KW. It is generally recommended to size the generator at 70–80% of its rated capacity for optimal performance and longevity.
